Dust the treads with a feather duster and wipe them with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use soap or harsh cleaning products, as these can damage the anti-slip coating. Prevent sand or small stones from being carried up the stairs. For example, place a doormat by the door and wear slippers indoors; this will help you avoid scratches and wear.

Even heavy items such as washing machines or suitcases are best moved with care, preferably using protective materials to spare your staircase.
